Why Campaign Monitor was born
Ever tried to run an email marketing campaign or send an email newsletter for a client? If you're like us, you've tried a few different tools to get the job done. OK, the campaign was sent, or you managed to import your client's subscribers, but no matter what, something was always missing.
You might have wanted complete control over the design of your campaign. Maybe your client wanted to actually watch the results of the campaign as you sent it. Whatever the reason, it was missing and you didn't like it.
The idea for Campaign Monitor was born from this frustration.
Version 1 was an in-house tool that managed (and still manages) email campaigns for some of the country's biggest companies. We soon realized, however, that there were plenty of other web design firms struggling with the same problem. After further development and testing, Campaign Monitor was released to the public.
Since then, we've continued to improve the product with new features, but always with the same simple goal in mind, to develop the best email marketing tool for web designers.

Campaign Monitor was developed by Freshview, a privately held Sydney based company that started off as a web design consultancy way back in 1999. We started focusing on web app development in 2004 and launched Campaign Monitor later that year.
