Wish you could admire your responsive email designs in the Android's default email client? Well, it's time you got your just desserts, with the addition of Mail in Gingerbread (2.3) and Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0), plus Outlook.com and Outlook 2013 to our design and spam testing tool. Here's what to expect when you next run a test.
While Outlook.com remains functionally identical to Hotmail for now, Outlook 2013 is starting to define itself from its predecessors - for the most part, due to its quirks. As both email clients continue to evolve, it will become vital for designers to leave any 'oh, it will work just like Hotmail / Outlook 2010' assumptions at the door and pay particular attention to these email clients.
Regarding the new mobile email clients, you'll find the HTC Wildfire and Nexus Galaxy handsets (pictured), under 'Android 2.3' and 'Android 4' respectively in your design and spam tests. Both are running Android's default client, Mail. Given Mail's superior CSS support, these mobile clients are ideal for testing responsive email designs, as well as other CSS tricks and techniques.
In case you missed the news earlier this week, our new Unlimited monthly plans now feature free, unlimited design and spam tests as part of the deal. Imagine, testing your campaigns in the new Android clients, as freely as you would on your own phones. Or discovering your own Outlook 2013 email hacks like a pro.
The addition of these extra clients won't impact the cost of tests for Basic monthly plan and pay per campaign customers. At $5 a test, we hope you'll find our inbox previews featuring 20+ email clients even better value than before.
We really hope you enjoy these new tests, available now in your account. Of course, if there's an email client you would like to see added, or an improvement made to our current suite of tests, let us know in the comments below.
