Client-level custom domains are live

While we've supported an account-wide custom domain for years now, the ability to set one on a per-client basis has been a popular request. Today we're happy to share that you can now set a different domain for each client in your account.

Client domains

Makes everything client branded

The great thing about setting a custom domain for a client is that it localizes everything for that client. This means they can login into their account at that domain. All the links in each campaign they send will use that domain for link tracking. If anyone shares their campaigns on social networks, that's the domain they'll see.

How to set one up

Head into Client Settings for a client you'd ike to enable this for, and on the right you'll notice a new option to "Set a custom domain". From there you simply follow the simple DNS instructions, we'll verify everything is set up correctly and you're good to go.

What if I already have an account-level domain?

We've designed the new client-level domains to work in harmony with your account-wide domain. This means a client can still log in using your account domain, but we'll still use their client-level domain for any link tracking, etc.

This feature is live and available in your account now, and if you run into any issues setting one up, we're always here to help.

This is great news! I’ve been waiting a long time for this:

Good to see that Campaign Monitor listens to their community.

I already have two additional ‘finetuning’ feature requests:

    1. The obvious request: Being able to set a custom logo for every client. Right now, still the default agency logo shows up on all pages, even when visiting via the new custom domain.

    2. It would also be a great addition if we can customize the login page a bit more (also based per client / agency).  Here’s why:  I’m pretty sure some campaign receivers check out the default clean url when analyzing the links in a campaign.  Especially people who might be interested in the service/agency behind the campaign.  Atm, those sneaky persons end up on a login pages with no further information.  It could be the ideal landing page if agencies could use that page to optionally provide information how to get in touch, and forward them to an external website.

The landing page customization could be as simple as just providing an optional area below the logo, where we agencies can add HTML/TXT info, so there’s a bit of flexibility created in what to display.

It would be a win win situation at the end: if the agency gets new campaign clients that way, then CampaignMonitor would benefit directly as well.

Thanks Peter, some really nice ideas there on how you can take a rebrand a couple of steps further to really personalize things on a per-client basis. I know these re both things we’ve discussed internally before, and they’ve already been bumped again because of your feedback.

    Nice, thanks for this addition!

Any chance in the future of being able to use this to generate a trackable link for text emails so those clicks will show up in reports?

    niiiice.
Just to check, I presume that existing links out in the wild on the un-customised domain will still continue to work, i.e. the primary account domain exists as a fallback?

    Fantastic!

Can we merge all our old - seperately managed clients into one account now?

    Thanks

Hi Amanda, this isn’t in our immediate plans, but I’ll give this issue a nudge for you and keep you updated as we progress. Thank you for letting us know :)

Toby - Yes, links in old campaigns will continue to work, but by all means, please get in touch if you see anything unusual.

Vitor - I’ve added your votes, with pleasure. Thank you for letting us know :)

Zander - We may be able to help with merging accounts in some situations, so please get in touch with us with client details and we’ll see if it’s possible in your case.

Geoffrey & Dylan - Not at present, but its been requested a few times, so I’ll certainly give this issue a nudge on your behalf. Sorry for not making this available yet!
