1. Totally Rad!

It’s not often we see grunge used in email, but this campaign from Totally Rad! is a great example of how to pull it off. The textures and grungy typography really make this newsletter stand out from the typical emails in a crowded inbox.

Being a grunge design it was always going to be a bit heavy on images, but it degrades nicely and is still readable even with images turned off.

  2. Dekalb Tire

It's not everyday you would expect to receive such a nice looking email campaign from a mechanic. However, Never Without have delivered the goods, with cool use of textures, fancy fonts and a slick overall design for Dekalb Tire.

Some nifty features we were drawn to included the integration with Google Maps directions and the printable "Koda Koupons".

  3. Virb

This sweet announcement from Virb is an awesome example of great email design. The style is very similar to their website, with subtle gradients and shadows used to great effect to add polish and depth.

We also like the idea of using large puzzle icons for each feature; it’s a great way to break up the content into easily digestible chunks. After seeing this campaign you can easily tell why Virb is revered for its great design.

  4. The Complete Garden

This newsletter for The Complete Garden would make anyone’s inbox look good. The subtle backgrounds and soft colors set the tone for this beautifully designed newsletter full of small details.

We love the slanted images – it may take a bit more work but it can really make a design pop, and this awesome design certainly made us take a closer look.

The typography is appropriate, and the content is short and sweet. All-in-all this is a fantastically executed newsletter.

  5. Carpe Diem PR

A combination of simple and subtle design combined with a unique page theme (it looks like it is being dipped in water!) makes this newsletter look great. The limited and delicate use of color make the imagery even more captivating. Sometimes simple really does look awesome.

With images disabled this newsletter might look a little off, and the text is a little small but overall we're pleased.

  6. Oyafestivalen

We thought the style of this campaign for the Norwegian Øyafestivalen was definitely appealing, particularly to their target audience or music lovers and festival-goers.

Contributing to a large portion of this appeal, we though the character illustrations were awesome, capturing our eye and commanding our attention. These, plus the overall design and color palette, are consistent with the Festival's website, which is equally stylish. It should also be noted that the email design is quite rigid, and displays all information clearly should the images be suppressed.

  7. Splendid

Icon Inc. has certainly created a splendid email here. Not for the color shy, this campaign is chalk full of a sense of style. We really like the use of graphics and typography to get their message out.

There's a nice table of contents to help navigate the newsletters as well as a nice and clear mission statement. Don't forget that adding a permission reminder can be a helpful reminder to your subscribers!

  8. Freshbooks SupperClub

    Freshbooks Supperclub

This simple email from Freshbooks caught our eye not only for its simplicity in design, but also for the great splashes of color that draw attention headlines, links and other areas of interest. The distinct sections with sub articles in each is fabulous, though we'd recommend adding in a table of contents to easily scan and switch between them.

The design is effectively taken from their equally slick blog and website design but with nice little touches to set it apart, like the SupperClub specific header and the cute leaf separators. Another great attention to detail type touch is the season specific image in their header, we love the swimming gear this time around and the past inclusion of umbrellas and snow flakes have been equally fitting (if only we could feature them all!).

  9. ISS Cleaning Services

Definitely A Class Act, this campaign is a great example of how a simple design on the surface can be executed very effectively.

The layout elements control the viewer's journey through the content in a classic Z-shape from the headline, across to the man, back across to the women, then over and through the text copy. What's additionally appealing is that the whole design functions just fine if the images are suppressed. The smooth, muted color palette and the personal approach to the text copy combine to add the finishing touches.

For this campaign, Remarkable have been just that.

  10. Worldwide Online Printing

This campaign, designed by ANT Design, caught our attention with its use of strong primary colours and a really cool header (although we might advise making it a little smaller).

It uses much the same style as the Worldwide Online Printing website, which helps to solidify the branding. We really like the bold call-to-action buttons, and the colourful ribbons towards the bottom of the campaign are a nice touch.
