1. Andorra Youth Card Association

    This wonderfully rich and visually stunning campaign from Mosi Mosi Design was created for the Andorra Youth Card Association to send to European Youth Card holders, informing them about new discounts in cultural and sport activities, consumer goods, participative projects and information relevant to Andorra and 40 other European countries where the European Youth Card is present.

    There’s just so much to love about this campaign, it really is hard to know where to start. Not only do they opt for a very vibrant ‘shocking pink’ to instantly grab your attention, but they also interweave some beautiful vector art and illustrations throughout to give the whole design a very edgy, stylish aesthetic.

    The campaign starts with a strong masthead design, then moves effortlessly into a clearly-defined intro section containing two lead stories, then sweeps down to a delicious banner ad/call-to-action before concluding with two three-column article sections, all containing fun and exciting imagery and bright, obvious linkage.

    I must admit, this is one of my favourites so far, as not only is it informative and packed full of content, but it just brings a smile to my face every time I look at it. Not bad considering I don’t even speak Catalan really.

  2. Carhartt

    {title}

    The fixed gear bikes and preppy college jackets may make Carhartt‘s newsletter a hipster’s dream, but to the rest of us, it’s an elegant, well-considered email design. The wide hero image of the bicycle and simple, 3-column layout gives the email a magazine-look, as does the quality product photography.

  3. East London Design Show

    {title}

    If you were ever looking for an example of organized chaos in design, then you couldn’t go past UK design agency, UC48‘s email newsletter for the East London Design Show. We say this with positivity – color and objects are bursting from the header, the body is solid with copy about everything from opening hours to designer biographies and the newsletter as a whole just resonates with kinetic energy. You can’t help but be excited.

  4. tomorrow’s date

    Here’s a bit of a “Where are they now?” post. Two years ago, we showcased the excellent tomorrow’s date newsletter, that provides exciting date ideas for Aussie couples.

    They’re still doing their weekly thing, and the campaign designs have evolved, now sporting even clearer structure, and some nifty details.

    iPhone and Blackberry versions, both with device specific Google Maps links, will help you look prepared when you’re headed for your date destination with your special someone.

    And the combination of the Forward to a Friend links, and displaying the recipient’s email address next to the unsubscribe link, should prevent any accidental unsubscribes by friends you’ve forwarded the email to directly from the email client.

  5. Virb

    This sweet announcement from Virb is an awesome example of great email design. The style is very similar to their website, with subtle gradients and shadows used to great effect to add polish and depth.

    We also like the idea of using large puzzle icons for each feature; it’s a great way to break up the content into easily digestible chunks. After seeing this campaign you can easily tell why Virb is revered for its great design.

  6. Percept

    Percept is a graphic design agency based in Sydney. Their new newsletter design is bright, bold and beautiful.

    The visually-driven, energetic style is a wash of strong colors, irregular angles and upside-down words. Text colors have been carefully chosen to harmonize with the showcased designs, which are vibrantly propelled forward in contrast with the neutral, gray background.

  7. Kunstenfestivaldesarts

    Working from the visual identity established by Casier/Fieuws, the team at STATIK have created this dramatic multilingual newsletter. The three equal length columns, each in a different language must have presented a copy editing challenge!

    It’s totally black and white, which suits the material and stands out among other HTML newsletters. The single photo is also a great big link target, perfect for click throughs.

  8. Teeluxe

    This understated and elegant design stands quietly behind the products showcased in this newsletter from Teeluxe. The design and layout are great, but don’t compete in any way. This really allows the Tees and Artbooks to take center stage, which is exactly where they should be.

    We especially like how the newsletter encourages readers to forward to a friend and how the subscribe and other contact buttons are incorporated into the newsletter.

  9. Threadless Holiday Sale

    Threadless are the perennial over achievers of the email newsletter world. They pump out a newsletter every week with all the new shirts designs (plenty of which end up in the Campaign Monitor offices) and are always worth a read.

    This entry showcases their most recent design for the newsletter, for their annual holiday sales. The design is quite image heavy, but in context those images are the most important part of the design. We love the 'free shipping' callout right at the top, and also the 3 key buttons to $5, $10 and $15 shirts. Clear benefit, and obvious action points.

    There's a lot of different shirts on offer, but the design is easily browsable, and judging by how quickly they sell out, the newsletter is working.

  10. Respect the Spec

    Sightlines

    Designed by HIVE Creative & Walter Wakefield

    What do we like about this campaign? Well for one thing, we're digging the dark background. It's nice to see such contrast every now and then, especially when the vast majority of newsletters use a white (or at least very light) background.

    We might make the font a little bigger as the 11px font size might be a little small for some people to easily read. Overall though, we like the colors, contrast and overall design.
