Desktop Create: 2009
Designed by Niche Media
We quite liked the strong, primary-colored design approach to this invitation for Desktop Magazine’s coveted Create Awards ‘09. It’s bold, it’s cool and would have definitely appealed to Desktop’s subscribers when it landed in their inboxes.
Being constructed mostly of text, the design is sturdy and compatible across a range of email clients. There are a couple of images that finish off the design, so a webversion link is smartly included at the top of the email incase there is trouble loading. An overall nice design.

@HunterOwens And sorry again! This one has been frustrating for everyone, but obviously for affected customers the most!

The use of red, blue, black and white is a nice use of the colours, I agree with you that the images do finish off the design well, I think the use of benday dots are a nice touch.

I wouldn’t want swear words in my inbox. Even if they were bleeped out!

It’s great how the email resembles a poster or advertisement, rather than a standard newsletter look and feel.

Personally speaking I like it - the poster like design is refreshing and it doesn’t overuse images. The language is strong but as long as the list is well targeted I doubt many people being bothered at all.
The blue, red, black and white colour scheme works very well and finishes off the design nicely.
