Chris Assaad
Designed by Filament Creative Inc.
To keep his fans up to date with tour dates and other news, Canadian singer-songwriter Chris Assaad sends out The Good News, designed by Filament Creative Inc. Chris gives the email a great personal feel with the way he writes to his subscribers. Along with his social media presence, this newsletter exemplifies how artists can keep in direct contact with their following in a meaningful way.
The lovely, muted colored template also makes great use of the left column, with a Table of Contents, a Forward to a Friend link, and a selection of other relevant links. Another detail I appreciated, was the clear and helpful permission reminder message in the footer, reminding recipients about where they signed up originally.
We’d suggest being careful with using URLs as link text in campaigns though. Both because a descriptive and compelling link text is likely to get more clicks, and to prevent spam filters and email clients from suspecting the email of phishing.

Chris Assaad is one of my favorite singers, but this blog seems lacking in content.

Thanks for the link to phishing. It’s really helpful. I’m not entirely sure my marketing department knew this for our newsletter. We found ‘Click Here’ didn’t work well as link text, but its now clear that we should have been more descriptive with our link text. This is awesome - thanks!
