The end of the year is a time to reflect and to look back on how things have changed over the past twelve months. In 2016 we saw a continued evolution in the email marketing and automation industry, an ongoing commitment to our customers’ success, powerful new product innovations, and a shared team passion for giving back.

In terms of the industry, we witnessed a revolution in email design as campaigns became more beautiful, bold, and animated than ever before. Mobile adoption continued to be on the rise with 68% of emails being opened on mobile devices.  And marketing automation evolved into a must-have for every sized business as subscribers grew to expect personalized and relevant campaigns.

And it was a big year for our customers. More than 2 million marketers at 200,000 companies used Campaign Monitor’s email marketing and automation to grow their business. Collectively, sending billions of emails and creating 39% more automated journeys than last year. Their amazing work displayed in our Top 100 Gallery, inspired marketers around the globe to unleash the power of email marketing.

See the 2016 Year in Review 

We released dozens of new features and integrations that made our drag-and-drop email builder and automated journeys more powerful. We doubled down on hiring to help give our customers the best product and support, and we opened the doors to our new European Headquarters in London.

And we never lost sight of what’s important to our company — giving back. Our team spent nearly 2500 hours giving back to the communities where we live and do business around the world. We packed over 10,000 pounds of food for local charities, donated 500 school supply kits for kids affected by homelessness, picked up 600 pounds of trash at San Francisco’s Ocean Beach, and much more. These programs strengthened our ties to the community, deepened our bonds with each other, and reminded us what is truly important in life.


As we wrap up an incredible 2016 and journey through our Year in Review, we feel grateful to be able to partner with our customers and together push the boundaries of email marketing and automation. As we look back on the incredible year we shared, we can’t help but get excited for what 2017 will bring.
