If you’ve been reading up on responsive email design, you may have cottoned on to a recurring theme – every tutorial and ‘how to’ is specifically about making newsletters look great on Apple iPhones. How how about if you want to create iPad-friendly layouts, or target Android devices instead?

The process of taking media queries to other devices is something we’ve wanted to share with the wider world for a while now. So we’re pleased to announce that we’ve added a new chapter on ‘Targeting devices with media queries‘ to our Guide to Responsive Email Design, so you too can specialize your email designs for a variety of viewports. Inside, we look at the pros and cons of adding device-specific styles, then touch on how fluid widths can be used to create highly flexible layouts. If this sort of thing is up your alley, why not be one of the first to check out our new chapter?

Read Chapter 5: Targeting devices with media queries

If you’ve been one of the thousands of readers that the Guide to Responsive Email Design has helped out so far, thank you. Rest assured that it isn’t set in stone. We’ll be updating it regularly as email clients change, or as we have more to tips and techniques to add (like this one). If there’s something you would like to see covered or clarified, be sure to let us know in the comments.

BTW you done it wrong on your site:

you should put media queries not based on devices, but based on resolution: drag your browser, if you see horizontal scroll, time to put new media query.
