Hopefully you’ll never actually get to see this new feature in action, but through direct integration with AOL, Campaign Monitor can now automatically detect if an AOL recipient marks any of your campaigns as Spam.

How would this happen?

Since the release of AOL 8, AOL introduced a new “Report Spam” button into their email software (pictured below). By clicking this button, AOL automatically identifies the sender as a spammer.

What happens if my campaigns gets reported as Spam?

When a recipient of your campaign clicks the “Report Spam” button, 2 things happen:

  • Thomas Rosica

I have been trying for three days to alert AOL that an email reputed to be from their billing department is requesting my social security number and information on my bank account. Doesn’t AOL CARE ABOUT THIS SCAM USING THEIR NAME.
Is there an easy way to report this type of scam?

  • Karen

I agree with Thomas, when reporting mail as SPAM, it just goes into your spam folder but doesn’t get reported ot AOL. I’m still searching for ways to report directly to AOL

  • Chris

Oh, it reports it to AOL alright. My organization’s website was shut down during the height of our largest event because of AOL users reporting our opt-in Newsletters as spam.
