Since launching support for preference centers back in May last year, they have proven extremely popular. If you’re new to the concept, preference centers are a tool your subscribers can use to manage their own subscription. They can update their email address, change the topics they’re interested in or unsubscribe completely. It’s a great way to put more power back in the hands of anyone receiving your emails, and all it takes is a simple tag in your email content.

Today we made your preference centers way more flexible by giving you the ability to hide certain custom fields. Many of you were using custom fields to keep track of subscriber info that shouldn’t necessarily be made public. This might be sales figures, personal information on that subscriber, basically anything that shouldn’t be available outside your account. If you stored data like this, you couldn’t use the preference center. Until now.

Here’s how it works. For each custom field you’ve set up for your list, there is a new visibility option (highlighted in yellow above). By deselecting it, that field will be hidden from your preference center page set up for that client. Simple.

Don’t forget, we also added support for other languages a couple of weeks back. Right now we support French, German, Danish, Norwegian, Italian, Greek, Icelandic, Dutch, Hungarian and Swedish. Thanks to our awesome customers, we’ve got a few more languages coming out real soon, which we’ll announce shortly.
