One of the most frequently asked questions we get is “Can I add a video to my email?” Today, we’re pumped to answer that question with a resounding “yes!” You can now easily add a YouTube or Vimeo video to your Campaign Monitor emails.
Sure, video in email sounds like a cool idea, but you may be wondering if it’s an effective tactic for your email marketing strategy. Research shows using video in email pays off – in spades. 76% of marketers plan to double down on their use of YouTube and video marketing.
How to add video to your Campaign Monitor emails
Including a video from Vimeo and YouTube in your emails is as easy as drag and drop. Simply log into your Campaign Monitor account (or sign up for a free account if you don’t have one yet) and create a new campaign.
Once inside the email builder, you’ll notice there’s a new Video content block alongside six other types of content that you can drag and drop right into your email:
- Drag the Video content block anywhere in your email
- Next, add the video URL – either from Vimeo or YouTube – and click the green “Done editing” button.
It’s really that easy! A best practice we recommend is to add alt text to your video. This is just an alternative text displayed with the video if for some reason it doesn’t render properly for your subscriber. It’s easy to add alt text right under the video URL in the builder. Be sure to be descriptive with your alt text, such as “Monica Vinader inspiration video.”
