We’ve just overhauled our client permissions system giving you much more flexibility over what features your clients have access to. Since merging Campaign Monitor and MailBuild, we’ve had loads of customers getting in touch asking for more granular control over their clients. The new permission system, which is live in all accounts, gives you control over the following for each client.

  • Import subscribers – By disabling subscriber importing, your clients cannot add any new subscribers into their account. They can still access each list, see who has subscribed or modify existing subscribers, but only you can add new subscribers to any lists in their account.
  • Import their own campaigns – The merger meant that many of your clients saw a new option when creating their campaigns allowing them to import their own HTML. A lot of you would prefer to keep things simple and only let clients create campaigns based on the templates you design for them. We heard you loud and clear on that one.
  • Run their own design and spam tests – Depending on how savvy your clients are, you can allow them to run design and spam tests on their email content before sending the campaign.

Default settings

if you give a client permission to manage their own subscribers and create/send their own campaigns, the ability to import subscribers and their own campaign content will be set on by default. Design and spam testing will be off by default, so you’ll need to head into the “Client Settings” section if you’d like this feature to be available.

Streamlined billing options

Because we give you a number of options for billing your clients, the screen for setting billing options and client permissions was getting a little clunky. We’ve streamlined the design of this page so you can jump in and tweak the settings with a couple of clicks.
