Controlling plain text content with custom templates...

Is there a way to add some info to the plain text version of the email when using templates?  I create a custom template but the plain text is just pulled in... I want to add a message at the top of the text version.....

Hi joco, welcome to the forums! You can edit the plain-text version of your campaign in Campaign Snapshot. Next to 'Auto-generated plain text version', click 'edit' and you will be able to edit the text as you please.

Let us know if you come across any issues here :)

I'm not sure you've tackled the real point of joco's question here. I also have the same issue - I'd like to be able to create a plain text version of my template, so I don't have to edit it each time I send a campaign... isn't that the point of templates? ;-)

Hi michaelclegg, you're right - my comprehension skills were seriously lacking when I added that response :) There isn't really a way to create a 'plain text template' per se, it's just something we haven't had requested that regularly, I'm sorry to say. That said, you can experiment with the content of the HTML version, so that when it's "converted" to plain text, it fairly consistently pulls in/adds plain text in a fairly presentable manner.

Happy to look into the issue of plain-text templates, but as I mentioned earlier, it doesn't come up as often amongst customer requests as one would think.

Well this is something you need to look at. MailChimp allows me to fully control a plain text template -- and the signature etc is much more controlled. In Campaign Monitor, when I choose the default plain text template (which is useful and I want to do it sometimes), it does NOT allow me to change the signature. Please add this functionality. MailChimp is now much cleaner and more usable interface, it's just that their custom domain functionality is severely lacking so I keep looking at Campaign Monitor too. Thanks.
