The Elements of Email Study

eROI has released their Q3 Survey Results regarding The Elements of Email.

The study reveals a number of interesting differences between best practices vs. real world practices companies using email marketing.  For example, only a quarter of marketers test their subject lines.  Fifty-five percent of online marketers don’t know how they authenticate emails (to ensure that more of their emails reach their email subscriber’s inbox.  Lastly, only 10 percent of us create mobile versions of our email campaigns.

Thanks for posting Chris. I'm not surprised that 55% of people don't how to authenticate, because it can be really hard to get your head around.

Regarding mobile versions, how do senders decide who gets the mobile version? Or do the recipients self-select as mobile users?

Hi Chris / Mathew,

I guess this report highlights just how big Email Marketing is and that not enough resource and training is put into it. (It's just not been taken seriuosly enough)

Re. mobile users: I'd imagine that in the same way we test our emails on various email clients (gmail, outlook, notes etc...) we should be testing on mobile email clients too. Especially for the B2B market space - Blackberry's, Gmail mobile etc...
