I want to send an email to people where the image they get is different for every person and links to a unique URL for each participant. Is this possible with Campaign Monitor?
You sure could, you would just need to have a couple of custom fields, one for the image and one for the link. Then your HTML would look something like this:
<a href="http://www.yourwebsite.com/[url,fallback=]"><img src="http://www.yourwebsite.com/images/[image,fallback=default.jpg]" alt="Your unique image"/></a>;
Each person gets an email with those tags filled in with their unique values. Check out http://www.campaignmonitor.com/help/topic.aspx?t=33 for more help with personalisation
Hi, if anyone can help here!.......
I am trying to essentially do the above, but instead of customising the image, I need to assign an individual URL as a link on one of the images for each subscriber (based on state location). I have tried to use the code above (just the http part) however I cant seem to get the email to recognise the differing URLs. Each URL is the same except for the suffix - so:
"http://www.examplewebsite/state01" where state01 is the changing variable. I have the code:
<a href="http://examplewebsite/[url,fallback=]"><img src="images/Globe.gif" alt="Name of link here"... but it wont work...
Any suggestion? Haven't tried this type of merge before!...
The code you had there should work (assuming your www.examplewebsite has a .com on the end, or whatever domain you use) - what actually happens when you try it?
Hi Mat - I thought in theory it should work... it almost does.
When I click on the link i get the root page opening but got 'does not subscribe to this system' on the page (in the area where the state should display - page has been specifically created this way) and the URL read: "http://www.examplewebsite/<url>" in the address bar.
I gave up and created a link for each state and assigned the unique URL to each...
