Is there any way to accurately render html special characters in plain text email?
I am sending a plain text message in Spanish and was wondering if there was any way to have the characters that are used in words like "aquí" and phrases like "¡Es muy fácil!" to appear correctly.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Hi rmc, there absolutely is.
Here's a html character reference:
Use the code in the Entity Name column.
Seems like a better solution is to send UTF-8 formatted email. HTML entities don't "always" (although it is nearly always) work since they depend somewhat on the encodings available on the receiving end. I regularly send emails in Spanish, Russian, French and Japanese. UTF-8 seems the most reliable. Can you send UTF-8 with Campaign Monitor?
Thanks for the advice -- I will look into your suggestions!
Yes, Campaign Monitor sends in UTF-8 encoding, so if you make sure the subscriber lists and emails you import are also in UTF-8, it should all render fine.
From Australia to Zimbabwe, and everywhere in between, companies count on Campaign Monitor for email campaigns that drive real business results.Get started for free
