Image layout positioning

Hi All,

I've seen template examples where the images seem to be alternativley floated left and right. Can someone please tell me how to achieve this effect.

I've kind of picked up on the idea of using 2 repeaters, I'm not sure if this is correct or how to use two repeaters to achieve the desired effect.

Please help

Thanks
Clive

I have the same question as Clive.  Is it possible to have more than one repeater and alternate placement of imagaes (left and right)?

Thank you,
Karen

You can have more than one repeater, but each repeater can only have the image in one spot. I'll add your votes to our suggestion list for alternating images though.

Hi Mathew, are you saying that the image has to be in the same position (left or right) for all the repeaters?

Thanks,
Karen

No, I mean the each repeater element can only have one image, and every item you add in that repeater will have the image in the same spot.

You can have multiple repeater elements, and they can all be styled differently though.

Hi Mathew,

I am facing a similar challenge. A client has images that either will need to float right (width=180) or fill the entire width of the column (width=375). Your suggestion of using multiple repeaters would work, except that either repeater should be indexed by the TOC...which is sadly not an option.

I had thought I could just leave the image width blank and right align it, and tell my client to upload images of appropriate size, eg. 375x230 if he wants it to fill the column width and 180x180 if he wants the text to flow around...but your template requires me to specify a width.

Any other clever ideas for workarounds?

Obviously the current situation is a bit limiting...

Thanks.

Ok, I think I got it figured out...funny how that usually happens after you post a question. :)

Anyway, here's what seems to work for me:

Have the image right aligned and set the width to the full width of the column (in my case 375). When I upload a picture that is 375 pixels wide or wider, it fills the whole column. If I upload an image that is less than 375 pixels wide (and I can ask my client to make those 180 pixels wide), the text flows around the image.

So I can accommodate both type of images and have a bit of visual variety whilst sticking with one repeater section (that gets indexed for the TOC).

Cool!

Nice post nebelung, that's a great technique.

Hi there,

My client asked to have a template with images alternating between left and right between articles. I've seen a few suggestions to use 2 repeaters in the template - one with image on the left (t1) and one with image on the right (t2). Can I then mix articles in the editor like
t1
t2
t1
t2
t1
t2

instead of having
t1
t1
t1
t2
t2
t2

Is there any other solution on how to achieve this apart from having a static template?

Thanks,
Tamara
