"How do we get people to subscribe to our mailouts" idea pool please:)

"How do we get people to subscribe to our mailouts"  Shall we all pool together some good ideas?

I will start: We could do a competition where the 50th person gets a little free gift.

Look forward to hearing from you all.

Much thanks Mr T

When I worked at a local spa (using CM of course!), we created an incentive program where new subscribers would get a promo code on the confirm subscription page for a 10% discount on a spa service. I did not stay with the company, but the plan was to run the offer for a limited time, during the "slow" season.

Another way I boosted subscriptions at the spa was to create a targeted "wellness newsletter" as an additional option to the generic monthly news they were sending out. This list was opt-in only - no data dump from the customer database. Reception was great, and the open rate hovered at 60%, as opposed to the usual 17-19%.

We also included invitations to subscribe in email signatures and in the feedback survey forms we sent to recent guests.

Also, here's an article I ran across recently that might be useful: http://sbinformation.about.com/cs/advertising/a/aa102702a.htm. And -finally - ExactTarget.com and marketingsherpa.com have lots of great ideas for lead generation. Check out the ExactTarget white paper on Rocky Top Hospitality. http://email.exacttarget.com/Resources/CaseStudies/default.html

Offer a free report that is of interest to your target audience.

Normally these reports are PDF douments with a 'trackable' and 'unique' download link in the confirmation email.
Unfortunately, i don't think CM application has this feature.
