I'm curious how most of you are handling email addresses from forwards. As they don't represent people who have requested info, I'm guessing one can't market to those emails. Or can you? What are the best rules of practice for this?
With Campaign Monitor we don't even reveal those addresses any more, since those people have not personally given their permission to be emailed.
From my own point of view, I wouldn't be happy to get emails just because someone else had forwarded one to me.
It would be great if somehow we could get stats on the number of forwards which result in signups.
Maybe Campaign Monitor could present the email addresses of those who are forward emails if they subsequently signup?
I reckon it would open up all sorts of possibilities (maybe not all good) in terms of referral discounts and stuff like that.
