Can't enter emails

I can't seem to manually enter email addresses to either send test emails or to send out the actual campaign.  The pink error message says something about that they aren't valid addresses or something. 

I have been working with CM for the past year with hundreds of campaigns and I have never encountered this before.

Has anyone encountered this problem and if so - what is the resolution?
