Links from my campaign lead to extremely long URLs

Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong when links in my campaign lead to very long URLs? The links in the edit-page look fine and normal. But when I test it, they turn into endless URLs.

Hi emilie,
what do the long URLs look like? Do you have Google Analytics integration enabled?

They look like the link below, while what I typed in was only the first line until the question mark. When looked at the preview, all links led to normal URLs but once I'd sent it it led to these long ones.

I have sent out several campaigns already and I've never had this problem before.

Where can I see if Google Analytics integration is enabled?

Thanks!

Hi emilie,

That URL is indeed the work of the Google Analytics integration.

Here's a guide to modifying your Google Analytics settings in Campaign Monitor:

If you want to avoid the long URLs, you can turn it off, but this also means you'll miss this information in Google Analytics.

Hi Stig,

I thought Google Analytics integration was something different then just Google Analytics, that is why I asked what it was. We do have Google Analytics in our account and I definately don't want to disable it, because it is very helpful.

Do you know why I get these long URLs now, while I have sent several other campaigns with normal URLs, while Google Analytics was enabled?

Hi Emilie,

The Google Analytics integration is basically an automatic way to tag the links, instead of writing the long URLs manually or using Google Analytics URL Builder.

It seems like you've had tagged links since Feb 3rd. Do you know when the Google Analytics integration was set up in your account?

I have hit this problem myself, with ONE client account (not others). Any clues as to a solution? I've emailed support but no reply yet.

Still no response from support.

We definitely respond to every email we receive shg, perhaps you have missed it in your filters?

As Stig mentioned, those parameters are just the way that Google Analytics tagging works - if you want to pass information from the email back to your Google Analytics, it has to be added to the links, which is what Campaign Monitor does for you.

If you don't want them to appear, you just need to turn off Google Analytics integration for that client.

Turning on GA integration *broke* my campaign. The only way I could get working clickable links in my email was to disable it.

My comment was submitted via http://www.campaignmonitor.com/contact. Perhaps it's broken?
