Sorry if this is a simple question and is answered elsewhere - we couldn't find an answer anywhere.
We have a subscription list with the first and last names separated (In fact all our clients do). How do people combine the first and last names (without re-typing everything) so that the list is formatted correctly for upload into the system?
Any help would be much appreciated.
In Excel use:

Thanks for answering that Anna! In addition, keep in mind that there are some types of names where it is more useful to keep the first and last name fields separate (if you want to use un-hyphenated double barrel names for example).
In that case, you'd just setup some custom fields to use for first and last name.
@mathew, the CM system separates the name field into sub-fields of firstname and lastname, when used in personalisation tags, yes?
In this case, how would CM handle the splitting of an un-hypenated double barrel - would the firstname or the lastname get the unidentified name in the middle?
Incidentally, although i'm happy concatening in excel, i do find that the majority of lists supplied to me come separated this way. If I could identify firstname and lastname on import, and CM could then concat them to it's standard name field, that would be a very useful helper, imho.
I'm going to partially answer myself - just noticed http://www.campaignmonitor.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=2386
"For this kind of situation, you are best off either using [fullname] and outputting the entire field, or using custom fields to separate your names into first names and last name fields for full control. The automatic name field just takes the first word for first name, and the last word for last name."
my request for automatic concatenation still stands though!
