Hello all,

I want to add an "add to facebook" link on one of my newsletters. I was wondering if there is a tag to use that will give me just the url for the online version of the newsletter. I tried <webversion>, but that doesn't work because it makes it a link.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Romulo

I don't think CM have share with your network (SWYN) functions right now. You could just add a link to your Facebook page like this: http://tinyurl.com/c6zskd

It won't share your newsletter, but allows you to hook up with your readers on social networks. Personally I prefer that approach...

-------------

Readers can share your newsletter on Twitter:

Send yourself a preview email, then use the website version link in the url below.

http://www.twitter.com/home?status=Check out the May newsletter http://tinyurl.com/9k2yxw

(Add your 140 char message after =)

When your readers click this link in your newsletter, it automatically launches Twitter and places their message in the field.

Thanks for your feedback Anna.

As a work around I tried this:

<a href="http://www.facebook.com/sharer.php?u=<webversionurl>&t=My%20Newsletter"
target="_blank"><img width="16" height="16" title="Add to Facebook" src="http://b.static.ak.fbcdn.net/images/share/facebook_share_icon.gif" border=0 /></a>

Obviously I substituted the <webversionurl> with the actual url that I got from the test email. Also, the slashes and colons on the url have to be encoded so that the Facebook recognizes the url. This solution worked, but it would be much easier if CM could provide a tag that can easily display the web version url into the email.

i requested an automatic http escaped webversionurl about a month ago for this exact reason, and they accepted it as a feature request.

style campaign :

. . .
Send yourself a preview email, then use the website version link in the url below.
http://www.twitter.com/home?status=Check out the May newsletter http://tinyurl.com/9k2yxw
(Add your 140 char message after =)
When your readers click this link in your newsletter, it automatically launches Twitter and places their message in the field.
. . .

For those of you that are testing this based on Anna's link, just make sure to remove the "www" otherwise your spaces will not be properly placed into your status update.
Happy social linking!

not sure if this is documented anywhere or if it is indeed a feature but using the plain text [webversion] in the HTML email seems to work ok...
