Custom field tag problem

I have defined two custom tags so my field definition looks like:

        Field Name      Personalization Tag
        Name              [fullname,fallback=]
        Email Address [email]-----------------
        First Name    [FirstName1,fallback=]
        Last Name      [lastname,fallback=]

When I insert [FirstName1,fallback=] into the Verification Email Content it simply show up verbatim.

What am I missing?

Hey Joel,

Right now, you can't use custom fields in the confirmation email, only the built in [fullname], [firstname], [lastname] and [email]tags. If you need more help with this, fire through an email to support.

Correct me if I'm wrong but it appears that [firstname] and [lastname] are derived from [fullname].  How would these two names be split:

Mary Jane Doe
Ken Vander Does

In the first case, the [firstname] should be Mary Jane whereas in the second case, the [lastname] should be Vander Does.

Can I set up the subscription form to specify [firstname] and [lastname] independently or do I have to use [fullname]?

In the default name field, the first word is considered the first name, and the last word the last name. Obviously that does not work in every case. You can use custom fields to create your own custom first name and last name fields, and use the 'create a subscribe form' link to add those fields to your form.
