Gmail introducing unsubscribe button - how's that going to work then?!

Google are introducing an Unsubcribe button to "complement" the existing Report as Spam option as this blog posting explains.

How's that going to work then?!  Ie. We include a Campaign Monitor unsubscribe link which works automatically. Instead the user ignores this and clicks on the Gmail unsubscribe button. Presumably all ESPs will need to build something in at their end to be able to cope with this?

Hi Julian,

As Google mention in the message "the most basic requirements are including a standard "List-Unsubscribe" header in your email". Campaign Monitor already does this for all your emails, and it is something that Hotmail has supported for some time.

When the button is clicked, it is exactly the same as clicking on the Campaign Monitor unsubscribe link in your actual content.
