Strange issue with image in Gmail

I have uploaded my design and checked the preview and everything shows up fine, but when I run a test and send out the template to a Gmail account the background image I use in the sidebar headings doesn't show.

The strange thing is, when I view this same email on my iTouch, these bacgkrounds show up. But for some reason they don't show up in the browser when I view on my laptop or desktop.

I have selected the "Move a copy of my css inline" checkbox but this doesn't seem to fix the issue either. The images are background images from the css.

Any ideas?

Background images are actually not supported by Gmail.

See our recently updated guide to CSS support in email clients for details.

If it's possible you might want to replace the background images with image tags.
