I would like an outside table border only, and Outlook 07 does not accept my code:
<table width="640" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="0" border="1" rules="none" frame="box">
I know that a background will also not work and I cannot use CSS for this campaign. Has anyone found a workaround? Many thanks.
I would just use nested tables here. One acting as a container with the border, and then center a smaller table within that to do any spacing you need to do.
As always, I might have completely misinterpreted your question, but here to help.
Agree with supernath. Using nested tables will also spare you from potential Lotus Notes rendering issues.
You mentioned no CSS - Can you use inline styles to set the border properties? This will be far prettier than the default table borders.
I tend to create cells with 1px width or heights & set background colors to these instead, as Outlook often displays the borders correctly, however adds the 1px buffer for each side it's used. This means that your table is out by 1-2px, which as puny as it sounds, can affect your overall template widths. Best of all it's supported by all clients.
Obviously the downside to this story is engineering extra cells in your table to inlcude this effect, but practice makes perfect!
