This is more a feature request than anything I guess..
Would it be possible to add a feature to campaign monitor to specify campaign batch size and delays?
One of our client uses Campaign Monitor (on our recommendation) to send their newsletter out, but they are quite popular and have a large(ish) subscribers list. Whenever they send a newsletter out their website starts to crawl badly because of the sudden peak of visitors.
A simple feature to specify a broadcast a "send XX email every YY minutes" would distribute the visitors nicely over time and prevent huge peak of activity where the website becomes unresponsive.
This feature would be awesome! (and i'm sure beneficial to others using CM).
Hi ben_dog, welcome to the forums! Thank you for the request - I've added your vote, so we'll certainly give it our consideration. In the interim, have you looked into segmenting your lists and sending smaller campaigns, or potentially using an A/B test to stagger the delivery of email? We're more than happy to discuss these approaches with you.
Many thanks again - this is a fairly popular request, so we'll see what can be done.
Thanks for the update.
I'm aware of the A/B split. Group A & B splitting would still amount to a significant number of subscribers in each group.
I sure hope the feature request gets enough voting!
I have to agree that this seems really useful, especially for larger lists.
Will be keeping an eye on campaign monitor - if you implement this feature would move from mailchimp to CM on this alone.
I would like to vote this idea up as well. A client that I work with is having problems when we send to a large list -- it would be nice if you could set up parameters maybe to send to 2k at a time -- every 20 minutes or so.
Hi garyvm & Sclemans, welcome to the forums! No worries, I've added your votes for batch sending. Thank you for the suggestions as well, it's much appreciated.
I'd like to vote for this too.
I have clients who send to more than 40k recipients and it just destroys their site when all the visitors arrive en masse.
They're already using list segmentation to a certain extent but as a feature this would be far more user friendly to be able to specify how many and when you'd like mailed.
I'd also like to express support for the feature. It has been a part of the several other large email campaign services I have used, and would be extremely useful for my purposes.
Hi aiawebteam2, many thanks - I've added your vote for this internally. Thank you for the feedback!
