Issue with bullet list in Outlook

Greetings

I've been having some trouble with Outlook, when showing bullet list. I'm thinking it might be the "p" tag inside the "li" that causes the issue, but I'm not sure. Here's the snippet of code.

<td width="243" valign="top" class="highlight" align="left"><ul>
                                <repeater>
                                  <li>
                                    <$description default='91 visiteurs ce mois-ci… Cela représente une augmentation de 15.19% par rapport au mois de février.'$>
                                  </li>
                                </repeater>
                            </ul></td>

I haven't included the styling (too lengthy) but I'm thinking it's actually because I'm using description tags inside "li". The output results in adding a <p> tag inside those <li>, which might be the case of the trouble.

I know I could simply delete the list that do my list in a single description tags (which I might do), but I was wondering if anyone had a solution...

I know... Weird stuff happens with OL...

Why not use a table to create the bullet list?

<style type="css/text">
.list p {margin-top:0px; margin-bottom:15px; text-align:left; }
</style>

<table width="243" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0">
<repeater>
<tr>
<td width="10" valign="top"><div align="left">&bull;</div></td>
<td class="list" width="233" valign="top"><div align="left"><$description default='91 visiteurs ce mois-ci… Cela représente une augmentation de 15.19% par rapport au mois de février.'$></div></td>
</tr>
</repeater>
</table>

Personally I detest bullets in email and the way they format poorly on emails.

I'd also recommend table bullets for the best customization in a table.

I'm also having issues with bullet lists in Outlook 2007.

I'm using the "Template 1 Right Side bar" from Campaign Monitor itself. When I add bullets to text via the WYSIWYG editor, they appear fine in Gmail etc. but no bullets appear in Outlook 2007.

Any suggestions from anyone would be super appreciated. Code below if this helps.

Cheers, Jon

                        <td width="330" valign="top" class="mainbar" align="left">

                           <repeater toc='true'>
                              <table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="4" bgcolor="#336633">
                                 <tr>
                                    <td>
                                       <h2><$title link='true' default='Enter your title'$></h2>
                                    </td>
                                 </tr>
                              </table>
                              <p><img src="<$imagesrc link='true'$>" alt="Alt" width="329" height="164" /></p>
                              <$description default='<p>Enter your description</p>'$>
                              <img src="hr.gif" width="329" height="27" />
                           </repeater>

                        </td>

Actually... I... never thought of that!

jongarner :

but no bullets appear in Outlook 2007.

The problem with Outlook is precisely that no bullets appears when the bullets list is in a table...

Which is why Brian submitted the "in table" workaround.

I also don't really like bullet list, but they are a convenient way of showing key informations (such as "Tips of the months" kind).

I'll give it a try, in a repeater (you know, putting the whole "<tr>" in a <repeater> tag...) I'll see what it does!

Thanks for the replies guys!

**EDIT**

Our good friend at CM, David Greiner, wrote this article that will help those using the CM interface to create bullet lists:

He really is a good friend (and so are you for providing the link!) to post stuff of such interest!

I already switched my design to table list (as shown in your example, which is precisely what I had planned to do... *wink*) so I may not use that trick, but knowing such "hack" exist sure is helpful.

Thanks again.
