Problem linking to an anchor in AOL

Has anyone else experienced any problems linking to an anchor in an email in AOL? Basically I'm linking from a table of contents listing to the corresponding section in the email. It seems pretty straight forward:

<p><a href="#anchor">Click this to go to anchor</a></p>

<p><a name="anchor">Anchor</a></p>

This works in the other major web clients but AOL causes a new window to open bringing up the home page for AOL mail.

Hi gdhog79, welcome to the forums! Yes, I can confirm that named anchors cause a new window to open in AOL Mail. We've also experienced issues with anchors in Apple Mail and potentially Outlook too, so stay tuned as we'll be writing a blog post shortly regarding whether or not we should continue using them in email.

Thanks for letting us know - this is valuable information that we certainly will share with other email designers out there.
