We have a number of new clients showing interest in informing their clients with a regular newsletter.
However most are new to the web, and don't have fully featured web apps with opt in clients accepting approval for a mailing from the outset. But they do have a customer list of active customers, as many have traded for many years.
What is the recommended procedure to get an existing valid client list into and approved CM list?
Do you send a list cleaning email as a first email shot? Does it matter?
If they are all active customers (i.e having purchased within the last year or two) and have a reasonable expectation of getting email from your client, then that would be acceptable.
