DIV's or tables?

I have a question regarding the use of div's and css in email templates/design.

Is it okay for me to code my email in DIV's or does it has to be in tables?

If it has to be in tables, why? :)

Thank you.

You're going to be better off using tables. CSS support in many email clients is quite limited, unfortunately. Using tables for your layout will be much more likely to work across the majority of email clients.

We'd recommend taking a look at our Guide to CSS support and our Design Guidelines for help with how to best code your emails.

Classic tables all the way in my opinion - gives you best control for non-CSS properties.
