Can I include a Unique ID within e-mail body?

Can I include a unique DB ID in the e-mail and can this be visible anywhere via the subscriber lists?

I want people to respond to an e-mail on a public forum quoting something that is unique to their e-mail.

If this is not possible, will exporting a subscriber list, then re-importing it with the {ID} added work ok?  It won't change the subscribed date?

You can't use an ID from our database, but you can certainly import your list again with a custom field that contains a unique ID. It will not change the subscribed date.

Great - done that.

Now I need to find the e-mail address that pertains to that ID - is there a way of searching for the ID or will I have to export the list and find the match offline?

You would either need to search for it in the exported list (or in your own database) or use the API http://www.campaignmonitor.com/api

Hi Mathew.
From your answer, can we assume therefore that we cannot actually use data imported into CM or MB for list segmentation?

Mathew Mathew, 9 years ago

You can certainly use data in your lists for segmentation - see http://www.campaignmonitor.com/blog/archives/2007/02/creating_and_using_segments.html
