does anyone know how to get the trusted sender icon in Hotmail? I had vainly hoped that the domain authentication would trigger it, but that seems not to be the case. Yahoo bravely shows that we're authenticated, but Hotmail doesn't (I guess it still helps us staying out of the spam buckets).
Greetings to all!
Hi Jonathan, it looks like this trusted sender icon is reserved for high profile senders (eg. banks), who are commonly targeted by identity thieves. This is mentioned briefly in this blog post.
If we get wind of Microsoft starting a qualification program for this little green shield at a later date, then we'll certainly share this information with you.
Thanks for your reply. I agree. And thanks for watching this in future.
Of course, Microsoft are being cheeky by writing "Windows Live Hotmail adds the trusted sender icon—a green shield—next to senders that have been identified as authentic". As they only mean what *they* regard as authentic, completely ignoring DKIM and SFP. But I'm being pedantic here.
