Insert image inline...

We have several clients that we’ve built templates for and we are increasingly being asked if the can insert images as they wish in any text editable content regions.

That is it would be great to have an “insert Image

Hi Nathan,

Thanks for your suggestion. Unfortunately this isn't something that's currently possible, we do get the request from time to time and I have added you as a vote for development, but I'm afraid at this time we can't make promises if and/or when we'll add it.

The Campaign Monitor Blog – HTML email smarts to go with your good looks

I've got over this issue by uploading images to my server into a folder called 'newsletter' and then selecting 'source' in the editor and adding a link to my image like this:

<p><img width="340" height="188" alt="Alt Text Here" src="http://www.mysite.co.uk/newsletter/image-name.jpg" /></p>

First time I've tried this and I've not tested or sent out my campaign yet, so can guarantee it would work.

Please, please, please ...
This should be implemeted as standard into the wysiwig editor. I was surprised to find its not and there are no plans to do so. What the?

Its like telling my clients, you can ride a bike, but we cant give you any pedals.

Hi DMailer, thanks for your feedback here - I've added your vote internally and will keep you posted on changed to the editor.

In regards to editable templates, there's always going to be a trade-off between giving the designer control over the look and feel of the template and giving the client free-reign over what they can add. Our upcoming template editor update may provide clients with a bit more flexibility, however the creative challenge for us designers will be to build templates that are flexible, yet are impervious to even the most excited clients ;)

So the last post on this was 7 months ago and this is still not possible? Asking a client to add img tags via source code is like asking them to do any HTML via source code. You've gone to great pains to make CM user friendly but are missing a huge fundmental component.

Any idea when you'll have a image uploader for the multiline content editor?

Thanks,

Chris

Hi havoctools, welcome to the forums here. We don't have immediate plans to add this to the multiline editor, I'm sorry to say - it's still on the radar for us and we'll be sure to let you know if it's something we introduce. A huge thanks for your feedback on this one!

This really is ridiculous. I can't see how it will compromise a design if its within an editable text area.

I'm finding it harder and harder to fight off calls to use other systems both internally and from clients.

Especially as the alternatives do provide this functionality. It sadly seems everytime someone mentions something its a standard response of "I'll add your vote to the list" but nothing ever seems to come of it.

I realise you're spending development time on "clever" stuff but this really is a basic flaw of the system.

+1 (for what it's worth)

thank you

Hi Purple Frog, hearing this from you means a lot to us - and we're very much aware that you certainly aren't the only one hitting a dead end with not being able to add images inline. This is something we'd love to wrap into a larger editor update, especially if we start looking into things like adding drag-and-drop functionality. But realistically, this is likely a mid-term goal, so we really hope it's possible to look into creating more varied layouts with editable image regions in the interim.

We're sorry that development work here isn't happening as quickly as you would like, but I can assure you that we are working on some pretty valuable updates that we hope will benefit both you and your clients. Naturally I'll give inline images a bump here internally and let you know when it's something we turn our attention to.

Hi,

Just to keep the urgency for this feature alive, here another +1 from me. CM would be the best Newsletter System if this functionality would be included. Every other System has this possibility and it's kind of hard to explain to clients nowadays that this is not possible... Please include it! Thanx!

Our designers/marketeers do the sending most of the time and when they want to add an image in a text field that wasn't part of the original template a developer needs to be called over to up that file somewhere and provide the line of HTML so they can paste it in the source. I love CM, but this is pretty ridiculous.

Its been 3 years since this was first requested.  Can we please seriously consider this rather basic but much needed functionality?  +1000

cyndeenelson, 1 year ago

Please add my vote for this request. Constant Contact and other email programs have this. Your templates appear to be created with super nice photos in mind. But for articles that may be a little longer, it would be great to break up the text with a photo, which could be sized as needed. This is especially important when you're balancing left and right columns for length. Thanks.
