I'm in the process of setting up my account, I'd like for subscribers to unsubscribe from a segment rather than the whole list, is this possible?
I'd like to avoid using seperate lists as this is likelt to increase my costs.
Thanks for any help!
The segments are based on rules, so in order to remove someone from a segment, you'd need them to stop matching the rule.
What kind of segments do you have?
The segments are based on different newsletters so they have rules such as 'if newsletter1 contains 'Y'' etc
What is if someone hits the unsubscribe link, they will only want to unsubscribe from that particular newsletter but still recieve others from us. Is this not possible?
If they hit unsubscribe, they won't be able to get any emails sent to that specific list (or to other lists for that client, by default).
However if you can get them to use the preference center link you could let them change the custom field values (and select which newsletters to join or leave) that way.
We have a similar issue. When people click unsubscribe, we want them to be unsubscribed from the segment they are on, not the whole list (which includes other newsletters we send). We are aware of the power of the preferences center, but we want to import now another list that has 90% of the same subscribers as our current list-- we don't want to double our cost. So segmenting would be fine except for the unsubscribe issue. Solutions? Ideas? Can an API developer be of help? Thank you.
Hi Jeremy, I just responded to you via our other thread. Hopefully you'll find this to be useful, but please let us know if we've missed something :)
