Using Thunderbird to compose rich HTML emails

Hello!

I have a few questions.

Is it possible to somehow use CM's templates and modify them to send ordinary, non-newsletter emails? How can one do that? Are there any templates available for ordinary emails or CM's newsletter templates transformed for non-newsletter purposes?

Secondly, is it possible to use a code that looks something like this:

<STYLE TYPE='text/css'>
BODY { font-family: .. .; font-size: ... ; color: ... ;  }
P { font-family: ...; font-size: ... ; color: ...;  }
PRE { font-family:...; font-size: ... ; color: ... ;  }
A {color: ... ; background-color: ... ; }
A:Visited {color: ... ; background-color: ... ; }
A:Hover {text-decoration:... ; color: ... ; background-color: ... ; }
</STYLE>

and make it appear correctly in web-based email clients?

I'm quite new to HTML and was wondering whether there is any way to use CM or any other service to test some HTML code and see how it will look with various desktop/web email clients?

Hi Aleph, welcome to the forums! First off the bat, I expect that you would achieve rather different results when using Thunderbird's HTML email editor, vs. importing an HTML email into Campaign Monitor. We really can't comment on Thunderbird's capabilities, so you would be best off doing some thorough testing, or contacting Mozilla support.

To answer your second question, you can use CSS styles in HTML email, tested and sent via Campaign Monitor. Whether you can import HTML/CSS/images into Thunderbird and achieve the same result is again, something you will have to test.

Thank you for the welcome and the reply!

So not only can I import them, test them and send them with Campaign Monitor, I can also change the templates to make them suitable for ordinary emails?

CM doesn't have any ordinary, non-newsletter templates available?

Sure - the templates are there as a starting point for your own creations. Run wild :)

I'm not sure what you mean by this. You can customize our templates as you please to suit whatever purposes you have in mind, however again, I can't guarantee the results if you're going to be sending via a service other than Campaign Monitor. Of course, I cannot deny that we would really appreciate your patronage ;)
