Define the Campaign and Sender

Does the from email address need to be a valid address?
I see that it is clearly required for the Reply To address.

Hi bluefootcomm, welcome to the forums! It turns out that CAN-SPAM laws require a valid from name and email address. Even if you (and your clients) are not US based, you may have legal obligations regarding your email campaigns. Give us a holler if you have any questions about this :)

To add on to what Ros said, for technical reasons you want to use a working address as well. Many receiving servers will reject the email if the from address doesn't function.

Would it matter at all if the sender address was something generic like postmaster@[domain].com or something?

Hi auctionpipeline, welcome to the forums! Again, as long as it's a valid, functioning email address, it's okay. If emails to postmaster@[domain].com bounce, then that has the potential to impact how many of your emails get delivered.
