Placing images within my article

I'm setting up a new template using the new template tags for the new editor. So far it's going well until I've come to the images...

I have used the img tag and see it in the editor, but how do I:

1. Change/upload a different image once I'm in the editor?
2. Have the image appear either right or left-justified depending on how I see the article text flow in the editor?
3. Move the image up or down in the paragraphs within the article?
4. Do I have to re-edit my template when I know how many images there are for an article?

Right now, I feel very limited on how I can use images within an article.

Hi julia, happy to help out in regards to using the img tag in campaigns.

1. Change/upload a different image once I'm in the editor?

If you use <img editable="true">, you should be able to do this in the editor, like in this example

2. Have the image appear either right or left-justified depending on how I see the article text flow in the editor?

For this, you may want to set up different layouts in your template for the left/right justified images. This is the best way to get it looking right (instead of HTML hacks).

3. Move the image up or down in the paragraphs within the article?

Generally, editable images aren't mean't to be moved around paragraphs of text in this manner. However, you can try adding the image inline using the Source editor for a <multiline> editable region.

4. Do I have to re-edit my template when I know how many images there are for an article?

In theory you shouldn't have to regularly edit your template for tweaks like this, but it all depends on your layout, of course. You can delete images from your layouts, so there may be benefit in adding multiple editable images, then deleting them if required.

Thanks, julia! If you would like our support team to take a look at your template, feel free to get in touch. We'll happily offer advice on how you can optimise your template to match what you would like to see achieved.

Thank you for your reply Rosanne. I'm still trying to get my head around this. I have figured out how to multiple images using the img tag in a multiline editable region. The only problem is, it will group them all together--either all before the text or after the text.

If I have, for example, a 15 paragraph article with 5 images that I need to place within the article (they are smaller, so the text flows around them), I would like to be able to disperse them through the article. It seems I can only do this by uploading the images to our server and then using the inline source code to insert them in my text. Is this right?

It would be nice to be able to add them within the text right in the editor.

Yes, this is correct - unless you use a layout that allows a <multiline> text area to flow around an image (with say, align="right" as an attribute)

It would be nice to be able to add them within the text right in the editor.

I'll add your request internally for the ability to add images via the WYSIWYG editor and will keep you posted if this is something we introduce in the future. Many thanks for your excellent feedback here!
