As a keyboard shortcut fanatic, I always forget that a large number of people right-click to copy and paste text, including the client I just got off the phone with.
Hi enfueggo, we're really sorry about the trouble this is causing. We disabled right-click menus in the editor due to cross-browser incompatibilities, however are aware this is not so easy to explain to many clients out there.
Our team are still looking into workarounds, however in the interim, it looks like keyboard shortcuts will have to be the way to go. I'll keep you posted if anything changes in this regard - again, we're really sorry about this and are still working on changes to make the editor as easy to use as possible.
I like that disabling the right-click paste prevents clients from pasting in Word-formatted code into the editor. However, it seems that right-click paste still works in Firefox. Are we supposed to tell our clients not to use Campaign Monitor in Firefox or just tell them to use the keyboard shortcut ctrl+v instead?
Is there any reason the right-click is not disabled in the editor in Firefox? Please advise
Hi lischq, this is a slightly tricky one. We're recommending that Ctrl-V be used, as that will work across any browser. I'm not sure entirely why we have it enabled in Firefox specifically, except to say that there's been demand for right-click paste from quite a few of our customers.
What version of FF are you using? And under what circumstances does the right-click to paste work for you? I just tried it out myself and it didn't work for me, it was disabled as in other browsers. Thanks for your help!
sorry I haven't checked in til now. Diana, I'm using FF version 3.6.3 but I can update and see if it makes any difference?
The right-click to paste works while in any editable field, as long as there's something in my clipboard to paste of course.
Hi lischq, could you kindly try updating Firefox? I'm on 5.0.1 and can right-click to paste on <singleline> regions, but not <multiline>. The plot thickens..! :D
