Form building, with check box for primary list

Hi Forum,

I want to build a form to sign up to various lists that we hold in Campaign Monitor.

Using Create a Subscribe Form works fine apart from I don't want the form to subscribe by default invisibly to the primary list that I started the Create a Subscribe Form in. I want this primary list exposed as a check box as well, that is already selected.

So I want form:

|                         |

|                         |

Select a list:
| ✕ |  Primary List

|    |  Second List

|    |  Third List

Any advice on this would be much appreciated.

You would have to build your form manually and use the API to add the subscriber on form submit.

Thanks Jon. Will look into that route - was hoping for a quick option!

Hi David, another option you might consider, is to use only a single subscriber list, and use a custom field and segments to separate subscribers. Unless you need autoresponders set up for the separate mailing lists for example, this is the way we'd recommend.

We have a fairly detailed blog post here on how you'd set this up.

A third possibility would be to have an extra list in your account which you don't send to. This would only be used to generate the subscribe form; That way you'd be able to list all three lists as checkboxes that people can select. This isn't recommended if you're paying by the month though, since it would result in a lot of duplicate subscribers.

I'd like to do this and I've got one main list feeding three other lists... anyone got any ideas on how I can get the autoresponders working... each sub list requires its own email...

Hi dt99rrc, it sounds like you will need to use our API to create a customized subscriber form in this instance. If you have any questions about this, feel free to post on our API developer forum.
