I have a list with bith names and no names, and want to achive this...
...when there is a name, and...
... when there isn't a name.
If I use [firstname, fallback=] the result will be:
The latter featuring a space between the i and the comma.
Is there any way to prevent this other than using 2 lists?
This may not be the answer you are looking for, but how about something like [firstname, fallback=there] which would keep it informal like the "Hi" and fix the formatting issue.
'Hi there' may be a bit to informal for us, unfortunately.
But a good idea :)
I also had this problem and unfortunately the only way I found to solve it is using a custom field where we set the salutation with Excel before uploading. Not nice but a workaround for the spacing issue. However I'm keen to get to know other solutions for this :)

Hi guys, thanks for all the great feedback. We're keen to look into how we can make this work better with conditionals, etc so will keep you posted if we make any changes here. Thank you!
We need to fix this!

Hi matt, thanks for your feedback here. I'll bump this issue for you and keep you posted - in the interim, Bullchicken's suggestion may be of use.
