I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to prevent Microsoft Outlook (I use 2010) from using your email newsletters' background-color as part of a reply? Here is an example of what I am talking about. You'll notice that my email newsletter's background is used for the entire reply.
I'm afraid that there isn't going to be any way around this. But I thought I'd ask just in case.
HI jimmykup, welcome to the forums! May I suggest not using <body bgcolor="#e9e9e9"...> (or background-color) and instead, wrapping your content in a table with width="100%"?
In theory, the table color should not bleed into the reply - let me know how you go :)
Using just a table resolved the problem. Unfortunately, Outlook will not fill the entire window of the original email with your background color if you don't use the body tag. So replies to newsletters can be free of background colors, as long as you're okay with your original email having about 10-15px of white space all the way around.
Thanks for letting us know the outcome, jimmykup. You can't get around this 10-15px gutter, I'm sorry to say. If we find a workaround, we'll be sure to let you know.
