Hi team, I was wondering if it was at all possible to pull the emails of a subscriber list and segment them into different email client usage?
A couple of examples of why this would be useful for our company:
1. We are developing an iPhone/iPad app and think that instead of sending it out to our whole customer base, finding out anyone that has used an iPhone or iPad to open our previous emails, and then sending them an email to let them know the good news.
2. We dislike gmail & yahoomail removing our beautiful background images, and on the emails that we occasionally design that just so happen to have background images, removing the customers that open in these clients, rather than just turning the whole image into a load of segmented images.
I mean I could force my minions to go through each email address and create a load lists for me as the data is clearly already there, just wondered if there was a shortcut. =)
Hi Snowy, welcome to the forums! At present, it isn't possible to download a report linking email clients and recipients' email addresses, I'm sorry to say. Of course, you could send out minions to manually do your bidding in the subscriber snapshot pages (as you mention), but for now, there's no automatic way.
What I will do for now is note down your interest in this internally and naturally, keep you posted if it's something we add at a later date. Thanks again for your detailed suggestion here, we all really appreciate it! :D
Thank you very much for the reply. The minion method it is. I'll make sure to take on board their grumbles about doing it and pop them in the bin. :D
Haha! On our end, we've bumped this one... Somebody, think of the minions! ;)
+1 for a report linking email clients and recipients' email addresses... I don't have any minions at my disposal :)
Thanks jayc - unfortunately, we haven't had much progress on this one since our last update, but we'll certainly keep you posted if it's something we add :)
It just might be possible now with some of the new methods.
Hey everyone, rucuss is right - it's now possible to find out which email client was last used by an active subscriber, using our updated method for getting a subscribers' details. If you, or someone you know if a savvy coder, you can use this information in your app, add client-specific content to your emails and more :)
Thanks CM for the API update, that came very quickly after my post!
I'm comfortable with just using a browser and Excel to get this info out of the API, so that works well for me.
I wonder though, could you also add the email client details to the Campaign Opens API method? This method shows all the geolocation info about the open, so it seems natural that it should also include the email client that was used.
And maybe it could be included in the Subscriber History method as well? The benefit to this would be that you could see all email clients that a subscriber uses, eg; iPhone and Outlook, rather than just the most recent one.
Just some suggestions to improve the product. Thanks again!
Hey jayc, those are good ideas. I'll jot them up internally and be sure to let you know if we update these methods. Thank you so much for your help! :D
