iPhone hyperlinks on tel numbers - dicating colour

What I mean is I've got a newsletter with brown global hyperlinks.
In the header there is a phone number text colour white but against a brown b/g.
In iPhone the phone number becomes invisible, ie. brown hyperlink against brown b/g.

I've got this fixed logged from a forum post from a while back...

In head

 <style type=" text/css" >
.applelinkswhite a {color:#ffffff;}
</style>

In body

 <span class="applelinkswhite" >01242 xxxxxx</span>

However it's not working.  Any ideas?

The only other fix I can find is this one which does work but it means all tel no's are not hyperlinked.

<meta name="format-detection" content="telephone=no" />

Is the number giving you grief hyperlinked?

Cheers,
Alex.

Errm yes... as I said at the start one of the numbers is white text on a brown background. iPhone turns the white text brown (it's the global link colour) = the number becomes invisible.

Hi Julian, our friends at Litmus have a good guide to getting rid of blue links on iOS devices. Let us know how you go with this advice :)

Thanks for that Ros. Having read it I now realise that's where I got the original tips from, not from the CM forum!
So, unfortunately my issue still remains.

Also I just noticed on the Litmus thread that <meta name="format-detection" content="telephone=no" /> won't work on the native iPhone email client.  Although It did work when I tested in Gmail on iPhone.

Hi Julian.

Try changing it to  <style type=" text/css" >
.applelinkswhite a {color:#ffffff !important;}
</style>

Let me know if that works,
Cheers.

Hi Julian, I should have mentioned that we have another technique in this post - pre-emptively using tel: worked for us earlier, ie:

To order a pizza, <a href="tel:555-666-7777">call us now</a>.

Hopefully you'll have better luck with this technique - let us know how you go :)

Thanks Ros, that's great but not sure it resolves my issue (unless I've misunderstood!).  I want the phone number  not to become hyperlinked.

Unfortunately, you can't change it becoming a link. You can only change the colour of the link.

Thanks Alex but I realise that. I want to change the link colour. Your !important fix is sadly not working for me, but I appreciate your input :-)

Hi Julian,

I just ran a quick test with my iphone and the original fix is working for me in my tests. Can you get in touch at support with your account info and the campaign itself so we can troubleshoot with the full code you are using?
