I just did a Design and spam test on my email template and both the Mobile Email Clients Symbian S60 & Windows Mobile 6.5 layouts didn't resize per the @media only screen and (max-device-width: 480px) query. Everything else seems good to go. This is my first time using CM, and it's my first time setting up moble friendly email templates. I was wondering if anyone had some insights into any known Symbian S60 & Windows Mobile 6.5 particularities.
thanks in advance:)
Hi Jules, great to hear from you! You may want to scoot over to our CSS guide - we can confirm that @media queries don't work on Windows Mobile 7 phones (so likely not 6.5) and chances are that you won't have much luck with Symbian S60 devices, either. The skinny is that the phone's email client has to support <style> in the <head> of an email for @media to work - while iPhone and Android Mail handles this fine, we can't guarantee positive results on other devices. Hope this helps!
On this topic; is there anything we CAN do for those kind of smart phones?
HI roshodgekiss, thanks for the clarification.
I, like Alex am curious to know if there are any known techniques for dealing with these two situations.
Hi Alex and Jules, we have a couple of solid mobile design tips in this blog post. The question of what to do for Gmail for Android comes up quite often and I'm sure the advice we give for this client will be as relevant to Windows and Symbian phones. All the best!
