Singleline and default links

Hi there,
I'm setting up a template and want a client to be able to have the option of editing some links along the top of the newsletter. I was thinking that I could do this by using <singleline> and nesting within that the link and text content like so:

<singleline><a href="http://www.url.com">Text</a></singleline>

But, whenever you then click to edit in the editor, it includes the <a href=""> bit in the text and still gives the option of adding an additional link as normal. So, is there any other way of setting the default link for a <singleline> section?

Thanks!

Hi djwhisky, thank you so much for spotting this - to my knowledge, it's a bug in our editor and I've raised it with our team. Until we get this fixed, I'd recommend either leaving the <a href=""> out of the template, or using <multiline> instead.

Sorry about this, but I'll let you know when it's fixed - thank you for your patience.

Hi Ros
Thanks for getting back - can you confirm that what I'm trying to do is the correct way and once fixed at your end, will work?

<multiline> wouldn't work as it's for a couple of single navigational elements that would go crazy if the client had that kind of freedom, and leaving out the <a href=""> not an option either as the client would have to link it up ever time they sent a newsletter - just want to add the functionality so they can override if they want to for some reason!

Thanks

James

Hi djwhisky, what you've done is indeed, correct. There isn't another way to set a default link to a <singleline>. That said, we don't have a timeline for the fix, but hopefully we'll be attending to this soon.

I agree, <multiline> is overkill in this instance - fingers crossed we won't be long here :)

Hi @roshodgekiss

I have the same problem and was wondering whether there is a timeline associated with this bug yet?

Cheers

Andrew

Hi Andrew, we don't have a timeline for setting a default link to a <singleline> at present, I'm sorry to say. I'll give this a nudge internally and keep you updated on this one - sorry about the wait!

I've just been scuppered by this too. My options appear to be either confuse my client, or omit the link.

Hi John, I'm happy to add your vote for this, too. In the interim, I've prepared a little screenshot which you can pass on, showing how to add a link to a <singleline>. Sorry about this!
