Can I stop the editor placing a <p> tag around inputted text?

This is driving me crazy — every time I edit some text using the WYSIWYG editor, a <p> tag is inserted, overwriting CSS rules I've defined. How do I stop this from happening? Any help much appreciated

Hey there unresist, welcome to the forums. Sorry about this behavior - while it isn't possible to prevent the tags from being added, you can either:

a) Alter your CSS code so it still works, ie. .redtext, .redtext p { color: #FF0000; }
b) Remove/reset any margins/padding, ie. .redtext, .redtext p { margin: 0; padding: 0; }

Thanks, unresist - let us know if you have any questions about this :)

But I thought that the CSS style put in the header was not read by gmail?

OlivierP,

We move all styles inline for you, so if you add a style into the head it'll be applied inline to each applicable tag for Gmail support.
