This is just a heads up that the Design and spam testing Results were not completely accurate. Didn't know where else to post this info, but thought somebody might be interested in knowing.
Design and spam testing Results for Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo
How it actually presented in Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo
Hey Jules, thank you so much for the heads up. We receive our test results from a 3rd party, so there's a good chance that they're either using a different version of these webmail clients, or the preview pane in the screenshot being returned is so narrow that the space around the design has collapsed, therefore hiding the background color. We'll check in with them and keep this in mind, should there be other discrepancies reported. Thank you so much - by all means keep posting your observations like this, it's mega helpful!
No problem. You asked for it you got it! LOL More feedback below ;)
RE: We receive our test results from a 3rd party
Yep, I remember you saying this before ;)
RE: so there's a good chance that they're either using a different version of these webmail clients,
True, but I have the bkground color applies to a couple different html elements as well as in css rules to try and cover my bases in this respect. Still you never know.
RE: or the preview pane in the screenshot being returned is so narrow that the space around the design has collapsed
I don't see this as being a problem since I could see the bkground in other testing environments on the same interface.
As someone who uses email testing services daily, I'd advise you to take what you see on a test with a pinch of salt.
Obviously, I'm not faulting the CM service which is second to none. But nothing can beat doing a live test. If you're ever unsure about ANYTHING. Just take the extra time to do a live test.
Just my 2 cents.
Thanks, Jules and Alex. It's good for us to know these things, so keep up the great feedback - we'll be sure to pass it on.
